Suitability of the VOF Approach to Model an Electrogenerated Bubble with Marangoni Micro-Convection Flow

چکیده

When a hydrogen or oxygen bubble is created on the surface of an electrode, micro-convective vortex flow due to Marangoni effect generated at bottom in contact with electrode. In order study such phenomenon numerically, it necessary be able simulate tension variations along liquid-gas interface, integrate mass transfer across interface from dissolved species present electrolyte gas phase, and take into account moving line. Eulerian methods seem have potential solve this modeling. However, use continuous force (CSF) model volume fluid (VOF) framework known introduce non-physical velocities, called spurious currents. This paper presents alternative based height function (HF) approach. The method limits currents makes VOF methodology suitable for studying electrogenerated bubble.
